Belton House, Lincolnshire
8th Most Visited of the National Trust Properties
Belton is often cited as being a perfect example of the country house estate because of its architectural significance, quality of art collections, formal gardens and historic deer park. The house is also considered one of the finest examples of Carolean architecture, the only truly vernacular style of architecture that England had produced since the Tudor period. Originally begun for Sir John Brownlow in 1685, the house boasts not only one of the most important silver collections in the country but also the second largest library held by the National Trust.
